Battling the thorns...

..to get SleepinBeauty BACK in her bed!

After many failed attempts, here I am again. I feel as though I am watching the rerun of a movie; mother squats down to meet eye to eye with a beautiful curly haired petite blond girl that is crying so hard she is trembling. She promises said little girl every reward imaginable if she will just, sleep in her own bed!!
 Yep, that's me.

Now, if you thought that being a 5 year old with a queen pillow top mattress and room adorned with Hot pink, purple and beautiful photos of flowers and butterflies was enough incentive to want to sleep in that room. Well, you are wrong, but don't feel bad because you are not the poor fool that spent your time taking all those photos and decorating that room to her liking.
Again, Yep, that's me.

I must admit, on cold nights like these with my husband out of town, I have thoroughly enjoyed having someone to cuddle with. I also feel comforted by the fact that if anything were to happen, at least I have one child within arms reach.

Even though I may hate not having my snuggle-buddy, it is time to stop hindering her progress just because I am lonely!

So, Here is our plan.

Supplies list:
Calendar on her wall at her height (x)
Reward Sticker sheet(x)
Jar full of Wish list rewards(x)

She gets to mark each day off the calendar with a sticker,
only if she has slept in her bed all night.
The more stickers, the more rewards

Reward scale
For every 7 days filled with stickers: she gets to draw a reward from the jar for us to do that day.
For every full month filled with stickers: She gets to invite someone to a sleepover, each month the number of friends increases, but only up to 8.  When she has reached her friend limit, she will then be able to combine the rewards by having a sleepover and drawing a reward from the jar!

I plan to update her progress weekly, on reward day, or if we have any setbacks I will be posting those. Also, since this is mostly about her journey, I will be creating a small list of questions to ask her each week. I will post those questions and her answers, and if anyone has any questions for her, i will help her respond to those as well. She is very excited to have a journal entry all about her,so I want to do my best to keep this fun and child appropriate.

Also,If you have any suggestions for SleepinBeauty and I, we would love to hear them.

  1. oh my, as i finish posting this she comes in to use the restroom and suddenly remembers that she has to sleep in her room. I just tell her, if she wants different pjs then go change, I will tuck her back in but it is not a discussion, She WILL sleep in her own bed. Bring on the tears, she is in her room howling like wolf!
